The Lime Tree Inn, Branton Lane, Great Ouseburn
JRP were commissioned by Yorvik Homes to design and deliver a high-quality Public House and holiday letting rooms alongside a small development of bespoke houses at Bramham Road, Great Ouseburn.
The existing Village Public House had been closed for a number of years with little prospect of re-opening due to ownership issues, rent costs and unrealistic demands to allow its renovation. The new public house would therefore restore an important social hub and focal point to the village. The development would also create 6 full-time and 12 part-time jobs, a great benefit for the area.
Despite initial objections from the Local Authority based on the site being situated outside of the settlement limits, JRP successfully secured planning approval for the development which commenced construction in early 2020. The public house was completed and opened in early 2021. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a difficult first year of trade. However, due to the ingenuity and drive of the landlords, they have been a lifeline for many local residents providing takeaway meals.
